FactoryTalk View Studio ME Starts in Demo Mode or Grace Period

Summary

FactoryTalk View Studio ME Starts in Demo Mode or Grace Period

Problem

I have activated my FactoryTalk View Studio for ME and the license is showed in FactoryTalk Activation Manager properly, but when I run the software I am getting the message as below:

This product has not been activated successfully. It will continue to operate under a grace period after which it will not restart. The following activations were not successfully checked out: RSVME.500, RSVME.250, RSVME.RUN.

Environment

  • FactoryTalk View Studio ME

Solution

FactoryTalk View Machine Edition (ME) software consists of two parts that are installed together, but they require separate licenses:

  • FactoryTalk View ME Studio

FactoryTalk View Studio allows for project development. You can create and edit ME projects in it.

  • FactoryTalk View ME Station

Station license allows to run projects created in ME Studio on your PC. This way, you can use your PC as HMI, instead of using a dedicated PanelView Plus device.

Refer to the What happens if FactoryTalk View is not activated and Activation keys for FactoryTalk View software components sections in the FactoryTalk View Machine Edition Installation Guide Publication VIEWME-IN003. At losing the activation (any cause), it works in Grace Period for 7 days. After this time, it opens in Demo Mode, that allows to you to work for 2 hours, and then it closes. It should be launched it again.

If you have proper licenses in FactoryTalk Activation Manager and software still runs in Demo mode, see BF12727 – FactoryTalk View software opens in Demo Mode.
