Question

What communication options are available on the PanelView Plus Terminals?

Answer

Most PanelView Plus terminals support RS-232 serial (DF1/DH-485) and Ethernet/IP via their built-in ports.

Note: If RS-485 serial DH-485 is needed, see the applicable communication card below. For more information on RS-232 versus RS-485 electrical standards and DF1 versus DH-485 protocols see IN78 – Standards and Differences between DF1 and DH-485.

PanelView Plus 6 400 – 600 terminals, and PanelView Plus 7 Terminals:

• No add-on communication cards are supported.
• For PanelView Plus 7 Serial Communication, you would need an additional cable, refer to QA29511 – USB to Serial converters for PanelView Plus 7.

For PanelView Plus 700 – 1500 and PanelView Plus 6 700 – 1500 terminals:

• Note: All PanelView Plus 6 terminals have an Ethernet port. The cat. no. 2711P-RN20 module provides an additional Ethernet port on PanelView Plus 6 700 – 1500 terminals f/w 6.10.17 and higher.

For PanelView Plus 700-1500 terminals:

• The 2711P-RN10C DeviceNet module uses an open style 5-pin linear connector without jack screws, catalog number: 1799-DNETCON
• The 2711P-RN10H DeviceNet module uses an open style 5-pin linear connector with jack screws, catalog number: 1799-DNETSCON
