For the Stratix Switches listed in the Environment section above, the Express Setup button has multi-mode functionality.
Further details may be found within QA66447 – Stratix Express Setup Modes.

The most commonly used mode for initial configuration is Express Setup Single Mode/Short Press Mode, which does not require an external DHCP server.

Note: Express Setup will disrupt communication between connected devices. Do not perform Express Setup while a process is running. Ensure that at least one switch Ethernet port is available for Express Setup; however, it is advised that no other devices be connected into the switch when performing Express Setup.

1. Set your computer’s network adapter to Obtain an IP address automatically.
   • You may alternatively set your adapter to the static IP address 169.254.0.2 (192.168.1.1 for the Stratix 5200 and 5800) with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
2. Apply power to the switch and wait for the switch to complete POST, which takes approximately 3 minutes.
   • When POST has completed, the EIP MOD and Setup LED indicators should flash green.
3. Press the Express Setup button using a paper clip or equivalent tool and quickly release.
4. Verify the Setup LED is flashing green (or solid green).
5. Connect a Category 5 Ethernet cable from your computer to the switch port with the flashing green link LED.
6. Launch an Internet browser session on the personal computer. Verify the pop-up blocker is disabled.
7. Enter the Stratix Switch’s default IP address 169.254.0.1 in the URL (192.168.1.254 for the Stratix 5200 and 5800) and press Enter. If the Stratix Switch is running Crypto firmware, the certificate will not be trusted.
   • For Internet Explorer, a message will appear indicating This site is not secure. Click on More Information and then click Go on to the webpage (not recommended).
   • For Google Chrome, a message will appear indicating Your connection is not private. Click on Advanced and then click Proceed to 169.254.0.1 (unsafe). (192.168.1.254 for the Stratix 5200 and 5800)
8. There is no default username, leave the username field blank.
9. Type the default password, switch and click Log In.
10. Enter the desired information into the required Network Settings section.
    • Host Name, Management Interface (VLAN), IP Address, Subnet Mask, User, Password and Confirm Password are required fields.
11. Check the Enable CIP VLAN box if the switch has to make CIP connections to this VLAN.
12. Verify the Setup LED is still flashing green (or solid green) and click Submit. The EIP MOD LED should turn solid green.
13. A web page pop-up should appear and require you to sign in again using the new username (typically admin) and the password created in the previous step.
14. Enter the credentials and click ok. The Stratix Device Manager will display the Dashboard view.
    

    Note: Remember, you are still connected to the temporary address of 169.254.0.1 (192.168.1.254 for the Stratix 5200 and 5800) until setup is exited manually in the next step.

15. Complete and exit the Express Setup process by disconnecting the computer from the Stratix Switch until the Setup LED indicator turns completely off.
16. Optionally, connect to the Stratix Device Manager with the newly assigned IP address from a new browser window.
